A 61-year-old man was found dead with signs of violence in the early hours of Saturday, September 27, inside his home in the municipality of Benaocaz in the Cádiz province of southern Spain. The Civil Guard was alerted around 1:00 AM about a possible homicide in the small population center of Tavizna, located within the Benaocaz municipal area. Emergency Services 112 Andalucía notified officers about the discovery of the lifeless body, which showed clear signs of violence and indications of a possible robbery within the residence.

The victim, identified as Ambrosio, was a visually impaired man well-known in the nearby town of Ubrique, where he had previously sold lottery tickets before relocating to Tavizna following his early retirement. According to local reports, the man suffered between 20 and 30 stab wounds, some inflicted from behind, in what authorities are treating as a violent homicide. The Judicial Police of the Cádiz Civil Guard Command has activated the judicial protocol for this case and opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the death.

The brutal nature of the killing has sent shockwaves through the Sierra de Cádiz region, particularly affecting the communities of Ubrique, Benaocaz, and Tavizna. Local residents expressed deep sorrow over the death of a vulnerable individual known for his perseverance and personal achievements, including learning to play the piano despite his visual impairment. The Benaocaz Town Council extended condolences to the victim's family and the people of Ubrique, where Ambrosio was originally from.

In response to the tragedy, the Ubrique municipal corporation ordered flags to be flown at half-mast as a sign of mourning. The Civil Guard continues its investigation into the homicide, examining evidence from the scene and pursuing leads related to the possible robbery indicated by the initial findings. The case has drawn attention to violence in rural communities while authorities work to identify those responsible for the attack.
