Amazon Web Services Failure Postpones Music Ticket Sales in Spain

20-10-2025

The highly anticipated ticket sales for Spanish band La Oreja de Van Gogh's upcoming tour were unexpectedly postponed on Monday due to a widespread technical failure affecting Amazon Web Services. The band had scheduled ticket sales for 12:00 hours on October 20th for concerts marking the return of vocalist Amaia Montero, but the AWS outage prevented fans from completing purchases through the official band website.

In an official statement, the Donostiarra band announced the delay until 16:00 hours the same day, citing the "massive problem with Amazon Web Services" that affected both their operational systems and other systems nationally and internationally. The technical issues prevented the band from guaranteeing a stable and secure purchasing experience for users, forcing the temporary suspension of sales.

The AWS outage had broader implications across the Spanish entertainment industry, also affecting ticket sales for other major concerts including Aitana's performance scheduled for July 10th, 2026. GTS Spain, involved in the ticket sales process, issued a separate statement acknowledging the "technical incident at a global level in the servers of technological partners" that required temporary suspension of sales operations.

La Oreja de Van Gogh, celebrating 30 years since their first performance, expressed gratitude for fans' understanding and patience while emphasizing their excitement about returning to the stage. Ticket prices for their concerts were set to range from €45 to €72 plus handling fees, with VIP packages available between €110 and €290. The band expressed confidence that normal sales operations would resume by 16:00 hours, allowing fans to secure tickets for what marks a significant reunion tour after 18 years.
