According to the PP's legal filing, the party points to what it describes as an "evident temporal coincidence" between Díez's employment at Zarrías's consulting firm and the allegedly illegal activities being investigated. The opposition party cites press reports indicating that Díez was formally contracted by Zaño Sociedad Consultora between June and October 2024. During this period, she is alleged to have engaged in activities involving the Central Operational Unit of the Civil Guard and other political and judicial figures.
The PP's legal team has requested several investigative measures, including calling Zarrías to testify as a suspect and taking statements from businessman José Ruz. The party also seeks a search warrant for the consulting firm's Madrid headquarters to obtain documentation related to payments made to Díez, her employment contract, and email communications regarding her work for the consultancy. Notably, the requested search would include emails that may have involved Santos Cerdán as either sender or recipient.
Judge Arturo Zamarriego is currently leading the investigation into Díez, who faces allegations of bribery and influence peddling. Her testimony is scheduled for November 11. The PP's latest legal move represents an escalation in the political dimension of the case, connecting the alleged activities to a former high-ranking Socialist official and his consulting firm with historical ties to the PSOE. The outcome of these investigative requests could have significant implications for Spain's political landscape.
