Wind Turbine Maker Nordex Lands Breakthrough Spanish Deal with 20-Year Service Contract

25-09-2025

Nordex SE has secured its first order for N175/6.X wind turbines in Spain, marking a strategic expansion in one of Europe's key renewable energy markets. The German wind turbine manufacturer will supply eight turbines to independent power producer Abei Energy for the "Avellanosa" wind park in Castile and León, representing approximately 50 megawatts of capacity. The deal represents Nordex's inaugural installation of its modern Delta4000 platform turbines on the Iberian Peninsula.

The agreement includes a comprehensive 20-year Premium Service contract, ensuring long-term maintenance revenue for Nordex while guaranteeing maximum energy yields and operational security for the customer. Installation is scheduled to begin in late summer 2026, with commissioning expected in early 2027. The turbines will be mounted on steel tube towers reaching 119 meters hub height, optimized for Spanish wind conditions.

Francisco Cejudo, Nordex's sales manager for Spain, emphasized the strategic importance of the project, stating that the N175/6.X turbine type is "ideally suited for site conditions in Spain." He expressed confidence that this turbine model would become "a key building block for future wind energy projects in the country" where permitting conditions allow. The deal strengthens Nordex's position in a core European market with ambitious expansion targets for renewable energy.

For Abei Energy, the order represents a significant step in the company's expansion strategy to develop, build, and operate its own wind farms in the Spanish market. Luis Barrado, Global EPC Managing Director of Abei Energy, highlighted the project's alignment with Spain's energy transition and decarbonization goals. Nordex, which has installed approximately 57 GW of wind energy capacity across more than 40 markets, reported group revenue of approximately €7.3 billion in 2024.
