The Andalusian Council of Universities (CAU) has approved the addition of six new degree programs across three public universities in southern Spain, expanding the region's academic offerings to meet evolving labor market demands and international educational trends. The approvals follow a comprehensive review process initiated by the Regional Ministry of University, Research and Innovation in May, as part of the ongoing academic programming that began implementation in the 2025/2026 academic year and will extend through 2028/2029.
The University of Granada (UGR) received approval for two new programs: a Master's in Industrial Engineering, scheduled for implementation in the 2028/2029 academic year, and the joint Master's in Food Science and Technology to Nourish Health (Food-H), which will begin in 2026/2027. The Food-H program represents an international collaboration, coordinated by the University of Padua and also involving universities in Lyon, Krakow, and British Columbia.
Meanwhile, the University of Almería (UAL) will introduce four new qualifications, including undergraduate degrees in Dentistry and Audiovisual and Digital Communication, a Master's in Data Science, Modeling and Business Intelligence, and a doctorate in Agri-Food Science, Technology and Biotechnology. The Audiovisual and Digital Communication degree will be developed jointly with the University of Cádiz, which serves as the coordinating institution for this interuniversity program.
The University of Cádiz (UCA) will incorporate Pharmacy and Audiovisual and Digital Communication undergraduate degrees, both scheduled for the 2028/2029 academic year. Additionally, the CAU approved schedule changes for three existing UCA programs, delaying the implementation of degrees in Logistics and Transport, Industrial Design, and Flamenco Research and Analysis until the 2027/2028 academic year. University officials described these developments as part of a strategic renewal process aimed at refreshing academic offerings annually over the next four to five years.
